Letter to the Editor Massive Orbital Metastasis of Hepatocellular Carcinoma
نویسندگان
چکیده
Compared to other organs, the eyes are relatively infrequent sites of metastasis. In a landmark case series, Ferry and Font described 227 cases of carcinoma metastatic to the eyes. Among these cases, only 28 (12%) were orbital metastases, most frequently from tumors of the breast, lung, and genitourinary tract; in this series, the diagnosis of orbital metastasis preceded the diagnosis of the primary tumor in 61% of cases. Metastases represent from 1% to 13% of orbital tumors, the rest being accounted for by primary tumors. We present the case of a patient in whom orbital metastasis was the first manifestation of cancer.

Bilateral Orbital Metastasis of Follicular Thyroid Carcinoma: a Rare Case Report
Follicular thyroid carcinoma (FTC) is the second most common type of thyroid cancer after papillary carcinoma. It usually grows slowly and is clinically indolent; but rarely, its aggressive forms with distant metastases can occur. We report here an uncommon case of bilateral orbital metastasis of FTC. A 70-year-old woman present...
متن کاملPrognostic molecular markers in hepatocellular carcinoma (Review article
Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the 5th commonest malignancy worldwide and is the third most common cause of cancer-related death. The prevalence is different in the world. The ability to predict patients at higher risk of recurrence and with a poor prognosis would help to guide surgical and chemotherapeutic treatment according to individual risk. As understanding of hepatocarcinogenesi...
متن کاملOrbital Metastasis from Rectal Adenocarcinoma- Report of a Rare Case
Colorectal carcinoma is a common malignancy in India as well as in world. Inspite of its high metastasizing ability to various organs and lymph node, orbital metastasis is exceptional. Very few cases have been reported in the world literature. We report orbital metastasis in a case of moderately differentiated rectal adenocarcinoma in a 58-year male patient from India in 2015. We want to focus ...

Dear Editor On September 2018, a case report titled “Squamous cell carcinoma arising from a sebaceous cyst” was published in the “Journal of Surgery and Trauma” (volume 6, issue 2) (1). It was an interesting article; however, I think when dealing about such rare tumors, it is important to be aware of other diseases, such as proliferating trichilemmal cysts (PTC) that may be confused with squam...
متن کامل[Letter to the Editor] DNA Fragmentation Is Not Associated with Apoptosis in Zerumbone-induced HepG2 Cells
Zerumbone is a cytotoxic compound isolated from the herbal plant, Zingiber zerumbet Smith, which exhibits antitumor activity [1-2], anti-inflammatory effects and possesses anti-proliferative potentials in a variety of cell lines [3-4]. DNA fragmentation indicates an early event of apoptosis leading to cell death due to the absence of new cellular proteins synthesizing for cell survival. Previou...
